Skincare tips

Aunque hasta el momento el cuidado de la piel no ha sido un tema que ha ocupado los posts de este blog muy a menudo, es, sin embargo, una de mis grandes pasiones. Investigar productos, conocer los ingredientes, estar al día de marcas y lanzamientos, probar cosas nuevas... todo con el objetivo de cuidar mi piel de la mejor manera posible.

Como introducción diré que mi piel es bastante problemática, el tipo es normal-grasa, pero a la vez deshidratada, con tendencia a problemas de acné, adicionalmente mi tono de piel es muy claro y con gran sensibilidad al sol. Por tanto, como veis, no es fácil encontrar productos, pero es un reto para mí.

Algunos consejos generales a tener en cuenta:

• Ser cuidadosos con la piel, no usar productos agresivos ni sobreexfoliar la piel.
• Beber mucha agua, se  que no es muy original, pero realmente marca la diferencia. En esta línea también comer sano ayuda a mantener la piel limpia de imperfecciones.
• Ser cuidadosos con el sol, protegerse siempre con cremas e intentar evitar exposiciones prolongadas.
• Limpiar e hidratar, estos son los puntos básicos y totalmente necesarios que nunca pueden faltar, incluso si no se tiene interés sobre el cuidado de la piel.
• Invertir en productos, normalmente a mayor precio, mejores ingredientes y esto se nota en el efecto que tiene sobre la piel.
• Conocer la piel de cada uno, yendo al dermatólogo, en stands y tiendas de cosmética especializados. De esta manera entenderemos cuáles son las necesidades y cuál es la mejor rutina.
• Investigar, preguntando a amigos, conocidos, en las tiendas, en Internet... de esta manera con la experiencia de los demás podemos elegir o descartar algunos productos.
• Pedir muestras, en la medida en que sea posible pedir muestras para comprobar que los productos en que estamos interesados van bien con nuestra piel y no nos producen reacciones.

Con esto y poco a poco iremos encontrando la rutina que mejor funcione con nuestra piel. En los próximos días repasaré con vosotros mi rutina de día, la de noche y algunos productos especiales.

¿Cuáles son vuestros consejos sobre cuidado de la piel?

Although so far the skincare has not been an issue that has occupied the posts of this blog very often, it is, however, one of my great passions. Searching for products, knowing the ingredients, keeping up to date with new launches, trying new things... all with the goal of keeping my skin in the healthiest  possible way.

As an introduction I will say that my skin is quite problematic, it is normal to oily, yet dehydrated, and prone to acne problems. In addition my skin is very pale and very sensitive to the sun. So ,as you see, it is not easy to find products that suit all of this problems.

Some general tips to consider :

• Be gentle with your skin, do not use aggressive or abrasive  products and do not pick little spots because they will create marks or big pores.
• Drink plenty of water, not very original I know, but it really works miracles with the overall complexion. In the same line, having a healthy diet would help to a clearer skin.
• Be careful with the sun , apply and reapply SPF during the day, everyday and try to avoid prolonged exposures.
• Clean and moisturize, these are the basics day and night even if you are not very much into skincare.
• Investing in products, usually at a higher prices, better ingredients. 
• Know your skin, ask to a dermatologist, on stands and specialized cosmetic stores. Thus you would end up understanding which re the needs of your skin and what is the best routine.
• Investigate, asking friends, in stores, on the Internet ... so with the experience of others you can choose or exclude some good options for your routine.
• Ask for samples, to check that the products in which we are interested go well with our skin and we do not have any kind of allergic reaction.

With this and little by little you will find the routine that works best for your skin. In the coming days I will review with you my day, evening and special routines.

What are your tips on skincare?

Taupe Eyes

Aunque en principio puede parecer un color aburrido, en los últimos meses me he hecho una gran fan de este color para el maquillaje de ojos. Puede ser aplicado tanto para un smokey eye, como simplemente para delinear los ojos de forma sutil. Además creo que es un color que favorece a todos los colores de ojos y a cualquier tono de piel.

La sombra en crema. Maybelline Color Tattoo en 40-Permanent Taupe, ya os hablaba de este producto en este post, es un producto que se puede aplicar como base para que las sombras duren más tiempo o él solo pudiendo controlar fácilmente la intensidad de color que se desea aplicar.

La sombra en polvo. Catrice Absolute Eye Colour en 350 -Starlight Expresso, aunque el packaging no es espeicialmente atrayente la calidad de la sombra y el color son geniales, con una fórmula suave aplicado sobre todo el párpado o sobre la cuenca del ojo.

El lápiz. Este es sin duda mi preferido de los tres, es un habitual de mi rutina diaria, Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal en 004-Taupe, lo uso para delinear el ojo de forma sutil, enmarcando ligeramente la mirada. La fórmula es genial, suave en la aplicación y duradera a lo largo del día. 

¿Qué opináis de este color? ¿Os animáis a probarlo?

Taupe is not really the most interesting and exciting color but lately, I have found myself reaching for this tone everyday for my eye makeup. It can be applied from the the more subtle and natural way in the day to a more dramatic smoky eye at night. It is also a color that would suit all eye colors and skin tones, in fact I think it helps to pop out the blue in my eyes.

The shadow. Catrice Absolute Eye Colour in 350 -Starlight Expresso, although the packaging is not really attractive, this product is a gem. Its buttery formula is great to apply in a quick wash of color all over the lid or focusing more in the socket.

The cream shadow. Maybelline Color Tattoo in 40-Permanent Taupe, I have already talked about this product in this post, and you can double this up as a base for more dramatic looks or on its one where you can easily control the intensity of the color. 

The eyeliner. The Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in 004-Taupe is no doubt my favourite of the three. It is an staple in my daily routine, I use it to line my upper and bottom lash line and it gives a very natural look yet defining softly the eye area. The formula of this product is really good: it applies very softly and last the whole day without smudging.

The eyes of the season

En cuestión de ojos, esta temporada apuesto todo al azul, pero no me refiero al azul 80's por todo el párpado, sino un ligero y sutil toque alrededor del ojo.

No se trata de nada radical, sino simplemente a la línea negra sumarle otra azul medio difuminada, (como en la foto), o en su variante, y mi forma preferida, rematar mi cat eye con una línea en el párpado inferior azul para dar un toque más moderno y menos usual. 

Azul. Dos opciones: sombra o lápiz. Con la sombra pues conseguir graduar la intensidad y difuminar más fácilmente como por ejemplo esta de Sephora, pero para un color más intenso y preciso un lápiz como éste de ZARA (ya no está disponible pero hay un montón de opciones similares) es perfecto. 

Negro. Para darle fuerza al maquillaje y conseguir un look moderno, evitando caer en un azul demodé, es básico el uso de un eyeliner negro. Aquí ya juega preferencia personal de uso, para mí estas son mis dos opciones favoritas: como lápiz el de Rimmel Scandaleyes y para una línea más definida  y precisa el Super Liner Perfect Slim de L'Oréal.

Pestañas. Mi teoría es que el más, es más. Yo aplico unas cuantas capas de Benefit They're real junto con Maxfactor False Lash Effect para conseguir unas pestañas con volumen.

Talking about eyes, this season I bet all on the blue. Don't get me wrong, I don't mean the classic blue 80's one (all over the lid), I am talking about a subtle touch around the eyes to make them pop.

It isn't nothing radical but to add another faded blue line to your usual black eyelook, as in the photo  above, or for a different twist and my favorite, updating my cat eye with a blue line on the lower lash line to give a more modern and less common touch.

Blue. Two options: shadow or pencil. With shadows you can it graduate the intensity and blend more easily such as this from Sephora, but for a more intense color and a precise application use a pencil like this  from ZARA (no longer available but there are plenty of similar options). 

Black. To give strength to the makeup and get a modern vibe, avoiding falling into a blue outmoded look, it is essential to use a black eyeliner. This is when each and everyone knows what works best for them, my personal preference are the Rimmel Scandaleyes pencil and for a more defined and precise line Super Liner Perfect Slim from L'Oreal. 

Eyelashes. In my books when it has to do with lashes more is more. I apply a few layers of the Benefit They're Real Mascara and pair it with Maxfactor False Lash Effect for voluminous lashes.

March Favourites

Hoy os traigo mis productos preferidos del mes de marzo, aquellas novedades o redescubimientos que he disfrutado especialmente durante este mes.

Por un lado mencionar mis preferidos en cuidado de la piel entre los que destacan los productos de  Kiehl's que os comentaba en este post. La hidratante Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream, es una hidratante en fórmula gel muy ligera y fresca que una vez aplicada sobre el rostro se absorbe rápidamente, la uso tanto de día, como base de mi maquillaje, como a la noche. Junto a la anterior, la crema para el contorno de ojos de Aguacate de Kiehl's también es todo un descubrimiento, se trata de una textura más pastosa, pero calentándola entre los dedos y aplicándola a ligeros toquecitos aporta una gran hidratación a la zona. Por último,mi opción de tónico es el Serozinc de la Roche Posay, un tónico suave que deja la piel fresca, suave y ligeramente hidratada.

Pasando ya al maquillaje, he redescubierto mi amor por la Double Wear Light de Estée Lauder (más detalles aquí) una base en la que puedo confiar para los días largos en que no hay tiempo ni ganas de retoques. Para dar color al rostro, este colorete con un tono entre coral y terracotta (004) de LOLA Makeup, aporta un toque saludable y  es super pigmentado, así que hay que tener cuidado a la hora de aplicarlo, para ello mi preferida es la Blush Brush de Real Techniques, es super suave, coge una cantidad muy buena de polvos y por su forma puntiaguda ayuda a difuminar el producto. Para los labios he optado por colores más naturales y fórmulas más hidratantes como este Natural Lip Perfector de Clarins en 01, que además de dar un toque rosita a los labios, es super fácil de aplicar.

Today, better late than ever, I bring you my March favorites, the products I have been enjoying the most this month.

Starting with skincare, two things that I haven't stop using are the Kiehl's products I talked about in this post: the Moisturizer Ultra Facial Oil Free Gel Cream is a moisturizing gel formula, very light and fresh and once applied into the skin it is rapidly absorbed; and the Avocado Eye Cream from Kiehl's, it is a more pasty texture, but heating it between your fingers and applying it patting all around the area provides great moisture. Finally my toner choice has been the La Roche Posay Serozinc, a gentle toner that leaves the skin fresh, soft and lightly moisturized.

Moving on to makeup , I rediscovered my love for Estée Lauder Double Wear Light (more details here) it is my foundation of choice when I need a very long lasting - no touch ups base. To give some color to my face I have loved this terracotta-coraly blush (004) from LOLA Makeup that brings a healthy look to the skin and it is super pigmented, so be careful when applying it. For that purpose, my favorite is the Real Techniques Blush Brush, it is super soft and its pointy shape it's perfect for blending. And finally, last, but no least, for the lips I have been enjoying more natural colors and moisturizing formulas like this Natural Lip Perfector from Clarins in 01.

Inspiration: Emilia Clarke and Rose Leslie

Hoy es el gran día, se estrena la cuarta temporada de Juego de Tronos y no podría estar más contenta porque la espera se ha hecho muuuy larga. Hoy os traigo dos looks de inspiración relacionados, no he podido escoger entre ellos porque son a la vez diferentes y perfectos. Ambas actrices de Juego de Tronos los lucieron en la premiere de la nueva temporada en Nueva York.

Today is the big day, the fourth season of Game of Thrones premieres today and I couldn't be happier because the wait has been soooo long. Today I bring you two inspirational looks from two of the main actresses of the series in the New York Premiere. I can't choose because they are very different between them and yet so perfect.

Emilia Clarke, también conocida como Khaleesi en la serie, estaba estupenda. Con un vestido negro simple pero con fuerza y complementos sutiles, acompañó el conjunto con un maquillaje smokey que resaltaba sus ojos azules y unos labios rosa sutil. El pelo en ondas muy marcadas cerraba un look sofisticado y glamouroso que a la vez es moderno y fuerte.

Emilia Clarke, aka Khaleesi,  was stunning in this black ensemble. She wore a drapey and original black dress and simple accessories. She opted for a smokey eye that stood out her blue eyes and a pinky-kissable lips. The hair in glamourous waves gave the overall look a sophisticated, modern and strong vibe.

En el otro lado del espectro la bellísima Rose Leslie, Igritte en la serie, con un vestido blanco con cola y complementos dorados estaba impresionante. Su preciosa melena pelirroja peinada en suaves ondas y un maquillaje que se centraba en pestañas y favorecedores labios rojos que complementaban este look tan acertado.

On the other side of the spectrum, we have the gorgeous Rose Leslie, Igritte in the serie, with a long white dress and gold accessories was beyond perfection. Her amazing red hair styled in soft waves and a makeup focused on lashes and very flattering red lips complemented this great look.
